Malkah came to me for support in establishing a regular art practice, knowing that creativity was essential for her spirit and well-being. She had a deep love for Zentangle and a goal to create gifts for her friends and family.
She struggled with self-doubt, often feeling her work wasn’t good enough and comparing herself to others. Additionally, childhood experiences related to her creativity resurfaced. In our sessions, we worked to clear and heal these patterns, allowing her to move forward with confidence.
Months after our sessions, I caught up with Malkah and was amazed by what she had accomplished. She had created a collection of beautiful Christmas gifts. I was lucky enough to receive one of her stunning pieces that now lives on my desk, bringing me joy every day.
One particularly special moment from our time together happened during a session when I brought along my small gourd figurine of a little guy playing the flute. This sparked a memory for Malkah—she had a large gourd sitting in her basement that she had always wanted to decorate, but it belonged to her daughter. Inspired by our conversation, she had a realization: what if they worked on it together?
And they did. They turned the gourd into a beautiful masterpiece. Malkah later shared that this project became a deeply healing experience, strengthening her bond with her daughter. In her words, it was “a healing project that you helped with.”
This is what Malkah had to say about our work together:
“Shereen was always 100% present with me and my sometimes erratic thought processes. Her focus is razor sharp, even when mine was jumping all over the place. She always brought me back to my intention. I appreciate her sense of humor and her ability to set me at ease. She also is very wise and has an innate knowing of how to address and alleviate my worries and fears.
My biggest learning came during the weekly assignments Shereen gave me. They were simple enough to do every day, and by doing them every day, I learned patience, persistence, and getting over feelings of insecurity and unhappiness with my work.
I would highly recommend Shereen. Her warmth and calm, loving approach make it truly easy to relax and trust, not only her but oneself. She uses meditation, breathing, and going inward to create space for the work ahead at each session.
I know that someone who has an artistic block or is temporarily stuck with a specific issue, would greatly benefit from working with Shereen.”
